Publisher Description
Abstract This paper reviews the current critical financial infrastructure that includes commercial banks, stock market and bond market, identifies the impediments to capital market development and suggests remedies to improve it in Bangladesh with a set of policy recommendations. The issues of developing a corporate bond market that is currently near non-existent in Bangladesh are also discussed. Qualitative analyses are performed using both secondary time series and primary cross-sectional data. The latter are collected by administering questionnaires to current and prospective issuers of equities and equity investors.
