Publisher Description

In Search of the Miraculous: Fragments of an Unknown Teaching is a book by Russian esotericist P. D. Ouspensky, first published in 1947. The book recounts Ouspensky's meeting and association with philosopher, mystic, and spiritual teacher, George Gurdjieff, whose 'Fourth Way' approach to self-development combines the methods of the fakir, monk and yogi. Ouspensky taught the ideas and methods based in the Gurdjieff system for twenty-five years in England and the United States. In 1924, he moved away from Gurdjieff, for reasons that are explained in the last chapter of this book. In Search of the Miraculous is widely acknowledged as the most extensive representation of Gurdjieff's philosophical system ever printed, and it frequently serves as the cornerstone for comprehending Gurdjieff and his doctrines.
