DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY'RE HIDING IN THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR?
A woman and child are found locked in a basement room, barely alive.
No one knows who they are - the woman can't speak, and there are no missing persons reports that match their profile. The elderly man who owns the house claims he has never seen them before.
The inhabitants of the quiet Oxford street are in shock. How could this happen right under their noses? But DI Adam Fawley knows that nothing is impossible.
And that no one is as innocent as they seem . . .

Gripping and cleverly written
I had to take a break from reading for a while after reading this, having realised that I was so hooked on the story that I’d hardly spoken to my husband for a few days while I was reading it!
A brilliant follow on from the first book.
Very good read
A very good read, made more interesting by the use of things like police interview transcripts and media reports to tell parts of the story.
I had a theory about who was responsible from quite early on which I stuck to throughout the twists and turns. I’m pleased to say that I was completely wrong!
I think I understood the last page but, annoyingly, I’m not sure - my main criticism. It doesn’t spoil the overall story though. Perhaps I should reread the ending.
In the dark
Brilliant read. Lots of twists . Looking forward to the next DI Fawley book 😃😃😃😃😃
