Publisher Description

Can a romance that starts with death end in life?

Jeremy Finnegan knows the best moment of his life happened when he was 22, and nothing since then can compare to saving her life. When he meets Noel Welsh again years later, the haunted look in her eyes makes him desperate to talk to her about the day that changed his life forever.

Noel has few memories of the day Jeremy used CPR to save her after a near drowning. Only an image of disembodied eyes and flashes of light that haunt her nightmares. And the suspense of waiting for the PTSD flashbacks during the day have left her unable to form relationships outside her family. When she meets Jeremy again, the mystery of the disembodied eyes is solved. They are his eyes, not her own, that haunt her days and plague her nights.

Jeremy Finnegan is a college professor, a renowned atheist speaker, about to embark on the biggest challenge of his career, a research study about the nature of consciousness. When he runs into Noel on campus, he learns she has applied for a position in his study and he wants to help her though she asks him not to intervene. When he tips the scales in her favor, he unknowingly draws her into the episodes of violence on campus triggered by his atheist beliefs. As unknown adversaries transfer their attention to Noel in order to motivate Jeremy to comply with their demands, he knows he has put her in mortal danger. Desperate to save her again, he strives to keep her close to him not knowing that this time he will need her to save him.

What Others Say About This Book:

Christine Anderson demonstrates an incredible talent for drawing readers in from the very first page. Her storytelling is descriptive, immersive, and emotionally charged, making it nearly impossible to stop reading. In this powerful, fast moving narrative Anderson explores the raw, often painful, terrain of human relationships-both romantic and familial-with striking honesty and depth.

What makes this story resonate is its authenticity. The characters don't just face dramatic obstacles for the sake of plot-they wrestle with personal trauma, confront longstanding family tensions, and navigate the fragile yet redemptive nature of love, both human and divine. Through it all, Anderson weaves in a meaningful and compelling exploration of faith, not as a simple solution but as a deeply personal and evolving force that shapes the characters' journeys. This novel is a heartfelt and thought-provoking read, perfect for anyone who appreciates character-driven stories with emotional weight and spiritual depth.
