A misguided seduction with hilarious results!
Madison Campbell has worshipped her older brother’s best friend Parker Shaw for as long as she can remember. So the night before he leaves for the Air Force, she decides he’s leaving town with her virginity. All she has to do is transform her tomboy self into a sexy woman with a bit of borrowed makeup and some creative fashion choices. The results? One drunken kiss that Park doesn’t even remember.
Ten years later, no man has ever gotten close to her heart the way Park did. And now that he’s back, the very unfeminine Madison refuses to blow her second chance. But when her bold attempts to snag his attention (“Oops! Dropped my towel.”) fail miserably, she does something completely insane—she caves to a makeover from the meddling matchmaker in charge of The Happy Endings Book Club. Hey, Park, you want some of this? Madison is about to find out.

Sexy off-limits, brother’s best friend/friends to lovers with a mix of humour, vulnerability & heart
Inviting Trouble is a wonderful addition to the Happy Endings Book Club series about such a heartwarming bunch of characters. This off-limits, older brother’s best friend, friends to lovers romance was Mad and Park’s book, two childhood friends who were raised together, along with her brothers, where young love might just become reality now in adulthood with a bit of help from friends.
Mad and Park, who tell the book through dual perspective, are two really likeable characters with a strong connection. Their attraction, that first started when younger, is clearly still there as they re-connect fully as adults when Park, a former air force mechanic, returns home after a number of years and is forced to see Mad as more than just his ‘mini’ little sister who needs protecting. Mad is a sassy, sweet, and sexy tomboy woman that is so relatable with both her confidence and vulnerable side; probably one of the best, and definitely one of my favourite, female characters from Kylie. As always, I loved the interactions both characters had with the sub-characters, helping shape Mad’s character in particular.
Inviting Trouble is the perfect mix of humour, vulnerability, and heart in this wonderfully written sexy friends to lovers romance. There is a solid plot that evolves over a fairly short time period but everything is steadily paced, something that was firmly supported with the history between the two characters. While mostly fairly light hearted, there was a little bit of unexpected drama towards the end to add a few twists to the story that you definitely don’t see coming. While this is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone as each book focuses on a new couple with a HEA that rounds of the couple’s story nicely.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially the characters, and would definitely recommend this to any contemporary romance fans!
