Publisher Description

Third Edition 2015. (For the later Imray App version 2018, use 'Imray Navigator iPad Tidal Route Planning' ).

This interactive book provides a step by step guide to using Marine Imray Charts and Marine Tides Planner, specifically for route planning on the iPad. Now with all new iOS8 screen views showing how to add, insert and otherwise manage waypoints and co-ordinates within new or already existing routes, it provides step by step operating information, far beyond that covered in the official Manual.

It takes, as an example, a route from Portland to Christchurch, Dorset in a 27 foot, bilge keeled, sailing yacht, and uses the difficulties that might be encountered as a context within which to explain the workings of the Imray Charts and Tides Planner Apps.

It shows, step by step, how the data required for making safe and efficient sea passages for small boats, using the tidal currents to the best possible advantage, can be derived from the iPad.

It also outlines a suggested system for producing a laminated ‘Routelist’ style passage plan and a 'screen grabbed' route ‘Chartlet’, for hard copy use at the chart table or in the cockpit.

Marine Tides Planner App tools are also explained using a practical example of an overnight stay in Christchurch harbour.

Many interactive illustrations are used to visually indicate exactly what to expect from Marine Imray Charts, (previously Imray Chart Navigator) or Marine Tides Planner, (previously Tucabo TidesPlan 11 or 12), on the iPad, when you are using it for passage planning or managing your existing routes.

    Just the ticket

If you have downloaded the Imray Charts App and like me were unable to get started because their manual is rubbish - get this book!

Spend a hour or two going through the first chapter and you are well on your way to plotting waypoints, routes and using the many other features of what is really a wonderful app. You will discover this once you have got through chapter 1.

I like the many features in this iBook. Glossary, pinching etc. I'm not even bothered yet about tides, so most of the chapters are not immediately important to me at this time. This book is well worth the money - just on Chapter 1 alone.
