Publisher Description

[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] On May 4, 2011, William Francis Melchert-Dinkel was convicted on two counts of aiding suicide in the death of 32-year-old Mark Drybrough, of Coventry, England, who hanged himself in 2005; and 18-year-old Nadia Kajouji, of Brampton, Ontario, who jumped into a frozen river in 2008. State prosecutors presented evidence he posed online as a 28-year-old, depressed female nurse engaged in encouraging, advising, and assisting young adults to commit Internet suicide. Melchert-Dinkel frequented suicide chat rooms under the names "Li Dao," "Cami D," and "Falcongirl." He is the first person charged and convicted of assisted suicide using the Internet.
