Exceptionally empathically well written, you feel as well as read this amazing book

Exceptionally well written with very good description. I was immediately drawn to Cassie and the feeling of empathy was amazing, that’s how well written this book is. I was pulled in, drawn in, I felt, I saw, I understood, the reasons she did what she did, including breaking her moral compass and even the law. Selfless love for someone you have known all your life caused her to take action, even when being reminded of the horrific murder she witnessed as a child, and putting her own life on hold, to help her aunt.

A compelling read, a real page turner.

A compelling read, a real page turner.

When Cassie receives an urgent phone call from her sister informing her that her beloved aunt is ill in hospital, she leaves her archaeological dig in sunny Italy and rushes home to rainy Doncaster. Once home she finds her aunt clinging onto life just long enough to tell Cassie a 50-year-old secret and making her promise to achieve what Aggie could never manage.

The secret is contained in the catacombs that run under her aunt's home. Cassie uses her expertise as an archaeologist to join the excavation of the catacombs, but her promise means she has to crawl along long dangerous tunnels and enter the crumbling catacombs where there is another danger waiting for her.

Steeped in atmosphere, two unconnected mysteries and a romance make this an absorbing read.
