Lady Chatterley’s Lover is one of the most important works of Lawrence. The basic plot is that Cleaver Chatterley, a Lord of mines and forests, returns from the front for paralysation and asks his wife Connie to “have a child with another man” who will inherit the family fortune. As Connie could not bear the dull life, she fell in love with Mellors, a hired worker, and they wanted to leave together. The husband refused a divorce, but he could not bring them to their knees. In his works, the author praises human sex with religious enthusiasm, and depicts the realm of sexual relations with delicate and subtle brush, while the fiery sexual experience is accompanied by serious thinking about social issues such as history, politics, religion and economy.
