Landing Points (Short Story‪)‬

Last month I attached an oil painting of Mother Mary to my headboard with a Chip Clip. She was street-vendor beautiful and reminded me of Donna Reed, draped in a blue bed sheet, lipstick and rouge faultlessly applied. I almost slept, the faint smell of Fritos above my pillow. Oh, great Madonna, I prayed, beautiful virgin in a cobalt robe, keep my neighbor's husky from woo-wooing with the ambulance. Keep the phone from ringing.
