About the author
Born in Scotland, made in Bradford sums up LIZ MISTRY’s life. Over thirty years ago she moved from a small village in West Lothian to Yorkshire to get her teaching degree. Once here, Liz fell in love with three things; curries, the rich cultural diversity of the city… and her Indian husband (not necessarily in this order). Now thirty years, three children, two cats (Winky and Scumpy) and a huge extended family later, Liz uses her experiences of living and working in the inner city to flavour her writing. Her gritty crime fiction police procedural novels set in Bradford embrace the city she describes as ‘Warm, Rich and Fearless’, whilst exploring the darkness that lurks beneath.

For author Liz Mistry, home is certainly where the heart—and inspiration—is. Set in her home town of Bradford, Last Request is a Northern Noir series starter set in Mistry’s home town of Bradford. She introduces us to DS Nikita Parekh, who, alongside partner DC Said Malik, is investigating human remains found in a cinema car park. The body’s eventual identification, however, leads to revelations which force Parekh and her family to address painful secrets of the past. This is a compelling introduction to a promising series, with a lead character you’ll take close to your heart.

Was gripped from beginning to end
Bradford based detectives
A DS Nikki Parekh novel. Cold cases, serial killers, drug dealers, thugs and some dodgy coppers, all on the mean streets of Bradford.
Nikki has to deal with all of this, at the same time as dealing with consecutive personal crises and her inability to delegate or trust anyone else.
An interesting story, let down by not having any characters I could feel compassion for.
