Peter Silverton is a journalist and author who began his writing career at UK music magazine Sounds in the mid-1970s after finishing a degree in psychology at the University of London.

In 2007 he returned to the same University to study for an MA and described his quest on his blog. He has written a number of books using concerning music and popular culture and his most recent Filthy English is about swearing.

In the Legends series he brings his knowledge and experience of popular culture and image making to explore the lives of some of the most influential photographers of the last century.


His writing is fast paced, engaging and always thought provoking. These are not standard biographies of these photographers, they are snapshot views that put the photographers into context of both their work and lives.
