Lord Gauranga or Salvation for All: Vol. I
Third Edition
Publisher Description
About the time when Sree Gauranga appeared, Bengal had nearly lost its independence. The ruler was a Mahomedan; and though the Hindus succeeded, from time to time, in occupying the throne, they were obliged to embrace Mahomedanism in order to retain their sovereignty. The Hindu King, Subuddh Rai, was dethroned by his General, Hossein Khan, who ascended the throne of Bengal under the title of Hossein Shah in A. D. 1498.
