Richard Doddridge Blackmore was one of the most famous English novelists of the second half of the nineteenth century. He was a pioneer of the movement in fiction. He won acclaim for bright descriptions and personification of the countryside, sharing with Thomas Hardy a Western England background and a strong sense of regional setting in his works.

It was a romance based on a group of historical characters in the late 17th century. The main hero John Ridd was the son of a respectable farmer. His father was murdered by Doone clan. John grew into a respectable farmer and took care of his mother and sisters. But john was obsessed with revenge… How did he make a revenge? Read the story to know it!

This edition of this book can best be described as a very poor, insignificant synopsis. It consists of 94 "pages" of large font iPhone size pages. The real version is 614 pages of dense print. Readers Digest would have been ashamed to have called it an abridged version.
