Despina Kontaxis is an award winning Poetess. She has attended SAHETI the biggest Greek School in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has written 4 poetic collections “You I think of while I wait”(2007), “The solitude of the bedwalker” (2010), “The purple kiss” (2011) which is bilingual (Greek/English) with music by Alexandros Pappas and the trilogy “Lost grounds. Unforgotten homelands” (2012) which is also bilingual (Greek/ English).
She has translated “Oresteia” by Aeshylus in english for an off Broadway production that toured America in 2010-2011. “Oedipus Rex” and “Oedipus Coloneus” by Sophocles, the “Route to the frontline” by Elytis which waspresented in London and “Kantis to the life not lived” by Mihalis Kokkinaris.

- Award of the Municipality of Eleftheroupolis Kavala, Greece.
- Award of the Panhellenic Physiotherapy Association.

- International Book Award “Alexander Papadiamantis” for the poetic collection “The solitude of the bedwalker”.
- International Book Award “Midnight” for the bilingual poetic collection “The purple kiss”.
- Metal with the name “Ares” at the 1st Mediterranean Poetry Festival.
- Award for her poetic tribute by the International Society of Greek Writers and Artists.
- Diploma by the Panhellenis Writers Association for her qualification to participate in the 26th poetry competition in Delpi, Greece.
- Her poem “Sentimental Parade” in “A Royal Romance” anthology inspired by the marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton and was sent to them.
- The only greek poetess that reached the top 10 by the UN for her poem “Hibakusha”
- Trophy and metal “Mahatma Fule” Nagpur, India from “Mahatma Fule Talent Research Academy” for a remarkable work in the field of Poetry.
- Honorary Award by the International Society of Greek Writers and Artists for her participation in the 32nd celebration of Poets and its anthology.
