She valued the Bible
In 1800, 16 year old Mary Jones walked 25 miles barefoot across the hills from her remote village to the small town of Bala to buy a Welsh Bible from a clergyman. She had saved her money for six years, and when she learned that the Bibles had all been sold, she sobbed, crestfallen. She unknowingly sparked a movement that would spread Bibles around the world. Today nearly 100% of the world’s population have access in their own language to this valued book that offers advice for daily life, answers important questions, and gives people comfort and hope. History, science, and prophecy all indicate that you can trust the Bible. This true story makes me value the it more and do as Mary was told to do by the the clergyman who deeply moved gave her one of his own Bibles and said to her: “Read it carefully, study it diligently, treasure up the sacred words in your memory, and act up to its teachings.”
