Publisher Description
This study focuses on the work done by the missionaries and volunteers at Newark Methodist Maternity Hospital in El Paso, Texas. This hospital opened in 1920 as a general medical clinic but soon began to focus on maternity and pediatric care. Its efforts grew out of Methodist women's long history of community and missionary work and were essential to helping reduce Segundo Barrio's infant mortality rate.
