Modern Greats

Following in the tradition of the acclaimed Favourite Racehorses, which was published in 1997, Modern Greats brings the story of racing in the Timeform era up to date, from the likes of Dubai Millennium and Istabraq, whose careers lit up the early part of the twenty-first century, right through to the exploits of Frankel, Timeform’s highest-rated Flat performer of all time, and Sprinter Sacre, Timeform’s highest-rated jumper since the days of Arkle.

 

Using extracts from the renowned Timeform Annuals, Racehorses and Chasers & Hurdlers, Modern Greats relives the memories of all the best horses over the past fifteen years. The likes of Sea The Stars, Black Caviar and Galileo, as well as jumps heroes such as Big Buck’s, Moscow Flyer and Kauto Star, are just a small selection of the many horses covered.

 

The Timeform essays have stood the test of time, and the chosen extracts are linked by passages expanding on the contemporary accounts where applicable.
