MONGOLI‪A‬

Mongolia……not necessarily an easy option as a travel destination. It is a tough country in

everything from its climate to its infrastructure and, if you’re considering visiting, you’ll need to

pack your adaptability and flexibility along with your sun cream and your thermals.


But, the rewards for those who make the effort to get to Mongolia are, like its land, immense.


This guidebook has been written to give a general overview to modern Mongolia for the active traveller. It will hopefully help deal with expectations, give you an overview of the country and the diversity

and variety of locations and experiences available.


As journeys in Mongolia traditionally go in a clockwise direction, so do the location chapters. And,

in between those, are chapters on the culture and everyday living aspects of the country.

This Guidebook has been put together by Jess Brooks, who has been based in Mongolia since 2006

and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society - awarded for her work in Mongolia. Jess is also the
