Publisher Description
Driven away from his parish by a censorious bishop, Monsignor Quixote sets off across Spain accompanied by a deposed renegade mayor as his own Sancho Panza, and his noble steed Rocinante – a faithful but antiquated SEAT 600. Like Cervantes’s classic, this comic, picaresque fable offers enduring insights into our life and times.
Customer Reviews
Monsignor Quixote, by Graham Greene
This is the finest book I have ever read, without exception. Its profound spirituality and understanding, couched in this charming retelling of Cervantes' great work, is as psychotropic as any drug, and one of the great assets both to our age and to what is left of Communism and the Catholic Church.
I defy anyone to read it without tears, laughter and growing faith.
I would like also to point out the possibility of this book as an attempt by Graham Greene to explain his long and deep friendship with Kim Philby, his colleague, and to whose superb autobiography, "My Silent War", Greene wrote a brilliant introduction.
