We love paranormal romance writer Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series for the way it has developed into a fully fleshed-out world without losing sight of all the exciting werewolf action and steamy interludes we signed up for in the first place. In this stand-alone novel, Cole returns to the fan-favourite MacRieve twins, Will and Munro—or as we prefer to think of them, Hot and Hotter. This time, the immortal Munro needs to travel back in time to save his human mate Kereny from a sect of evil warlocks. Only he shows up in the past...at her wedding to another man. (Awkward!) Filled with wonderfully snarky dialogue, a fast-moving plot, and a few fan-yourself scenes, Munro is everything we want from a book about Scottish werewolves and the women who love them.

Kresley at her finest
Long awaited and very much worth the wait, Kresley once again enchants readers with her Immortals after Dark. Ren and Munro, fated mates destined never to be together? A love story unparalleled, action and plot twists with emotion and dialogue that remain with you even after you read the last page…
Infinite stars if possible.
I do not even know where to begin, there’s so much to say (all of it good) and my heart just feels so full. I’ve been anticipating Munro’s release for just shy of 5 years and I can say with 110% certainty that all 1826 days of wait were well and truly worth it. I don’t think I’ve ever had my mind so thoroughly blown. I would give this book endless amount of stars if I could.
When a mission to stop warlocks turning humans into Lykae goes wrong, Munro finds himself captive, tortured and at their mercy. Refusing to bend to their will, Munro never expected that they’d exploit his one weakness… his mate. But when things go wrong once again and his mate’s life comes to an abrupt end, Munro travels back in time to find his reason for being; Kereny. Dodging vengeful warlocks and evil sorceresses, Munro knows all too well that the lore is no place for a mortal. Determined to keep Kereny safe at all costs, Munro will do everything in his power to ensure that he doesn’t lose her again… even if it means losing her trust.
Based on the previous books, I always saw Munro as the steadfast second half to hot and hotter so I was not really prepared for how quickly he would steal my heart. Given everything he’s been through, Munro was at the end of his rope, and let me tell you that rope was already frayed to begin with. Of course, this was delicious for me ‘cause I love a man on edge. But with every layer pulled back you really see how everything he’s been through accumulated and sort of overflowed into his relationship with Kereny but that was what made his growth and character development so great and meaningful.
While Munro was borderline bull headed about certain matters (understandably so) he met his match in Kereny; or more appropriately spelt b a d a s s. I loved how fierce she was in the face of everything; Paranormal creatures in your forest? Let’s go hunting. A Lykae crashes your wedding? Needed a new captive anyway. Find out you’re his alleged mate? *Sharpening knife* bish please. Along with that will of steel and fire she was unwaveringly loyal to her family and those she loved. Like Munro, we watch Kereny grow as she gets up close and personal with the lore and overcomes her preconceptions, fitting in seamlessly while still remaining true to her character.
More than loving their characters individually, I really just adored how Munro and Kereny’s connection flourishes with every chapter and scene, moving beyond that lightning strike chemistry to something intense and emotionally profound.
The storyline was so captivating I came insanely close to quitting my job so I could read in peace. I mean who cares about upcoming litigation when Nix is on the line! The book was a combination of fast paced/action packed and gradual build-up of tension that kept me on my toes, and all round just incredibly well written. The progression of the story was so artfully done that you become truly invested and really see the organic growth in the characters, their story and connection.
It was unimaginably amazing getting to catch up with OG lore characters and getting introduced to new ones for future storylines. I really don’t think people comprehend how talented KC is to have written NINETEEN intricately connected books and every single one of them being no less than four stars. The world building in this series is probably the best I’ve ever read and I am on cloud nine having gotten to experience it anew with Munro. All I can say is Kresely, it’s so good to have you back!
