Frederick Douglass (1818-1895) was an American writer and human rights fighter of African origin. He was born in slavery and fled to the American North to become an abolitionism leader there. There he began publishing ‘The North Star’ newspaper. His most famous literary work is his own autobiography: ‘Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave’.

‘My Bondage and My Freedom’ is an autobiographical novel written by Frederick Douglass. The novel   resembles the first one ‘Narrative of the Life of Frederick’ but seems more extended.
