Publisher Description
When her longtime fiancé returns home from the victory at Waterloo, Amelia Pritchard suspects he’s not the noble, upstanding gentleman she’s always believed him to be. After breaking their betrothal, she flees to London with the hope of starting her life over and putting the past firmly behind her.
Battle weary Major Philip Moore finds himself intrigued by the lovely Miss Pritchard. Though he’s recovering from a broken heart of his own, more than just his honor urges him to protect the lady when her nefarious ex-beau arrives in Town with the most wicked of intentions.

Enjoyable and easy read
Nice quick read.
Needs to get the details right.
I like the story and the intrigue, the description of days gone by and yes, I do understand that it is not supposed to be historically accurate. After all, it is just a light read. However, I am beginning to find the incorrect use of English grammar irritating. If one is a writer, of any sort, one must endeavour to use verbs correctly. The author should not have written 'she did as she was bade.' She should have written 'she did as bidden to do' or the simple 'she did as she was told'. I know the author wanted to use the verb 'to bid' in order to sound old fashioned but she got it wrong and quite frankly spoiled the atmosphere. And that's just one example of shoddy writing.
