My Ordeal In Edwards' Nobel Prize

In 1970 a straightforward minor hospital treatment in the UK turned into a nightmare of medical abuse as Sandra, age 24, was caught up in the experiments of the pioneers of IVF who needed healthy ovum for their work. The removal of most of her ovaries left her body shocked into early menopause and rapid aging. She is now almost permanently confined to a wheelchair.

In New Zealand Sandra organised a patient oriented conference for ME in 1995 at a world-renowned medical school and realised that her failing physical condition was due to the earlier experimental surgery.

Her research into the test tube baby pioneers, Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards made her aware of the dangers and ethics of what is now a thriving billion-dollar industry.

Sandra raises questions that should be of concern to all of us, but through all her work and research she demonstrates the faith in God that brought her to a new understanding and acceptance of her condition. It made her realise that she must speak out.
