Publisher Description

This book features neokjeon arirang, a performance by the theater company Seonangdang at Jogyesa temple on July 7th, 2014 (lunar calendar). The performance, which consisted of dances by Sim U-seong, Lee Ae-ju and Choe il-sun, was about the disappearing shamanist rituals in the theme of ‘meeting’. The renowned Korean folklorist, Sim U-seong’s neokjeon dance performance was introduced to European countries including France and several Asian countries when he was younger. ‘The Korean national dancer,’ Lee Ae-ju’s joint performance with Sim can be said to be a space to succeed the Korean traditional shamanist rituals which are rare even for Koreans to see, as they are increasingly disappearing. Neokjeon Arirang has contents that can appeal to young Korean generations and foreigners, and it deals with difficult subjects such as gut (Korean shamanist rituals) and musok (Korean shamanism) in an accessible way to them. The ebook publisher of the Korean Wave, grove seeks to communicate and share the beauty and value of Korean traditional culture with people around the world by publishing this book in English, French and Spanish with a grant from the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea (KPIPA). Only Epub3.0.
