I nearly gave up on this book after three chapters but I am glad I persevered as it is a reasonably good police procedural and not an unpleasant serial killer bloodfest.
Where it falls short is a sense of place, the mixture of real and invented locations jars and there is none of the texture of Glasgow despite some obvious efforts. The dialogue also is quite neutral and none of the police seemed to be Glasgow Bobbies, they could have been from anywhere.
