Publisher Description
The No. 1 bestselling author's first classic collection of short stories which showcases the depths of his brilliant imagination.
A collection of tales to invade and paralyse the mind as the safe light of day is infiltrated by the shadows of the night.
As you read, the clutching fingers of terror brush lightly across the nape of the neck, reach round from behind to clutch and lock themselves, white-knuckled, around the throat.
This is the horror of ordinary people and everyday objects that become strangely altered; a world where nothing is ever quite what it seems, where the familiar and the friendly lure and deceive. A world where madness and blind panic become the only reality.
Stories include:
-Jerusalem's Lot
-Graveyard Shift
-Night Surf
-I Am the Doorway
-The Mangler
-The Boogeyman
-Gray Matter
-Battleground

Customer Reviews
Hit after scary hit
Simply fantastic. King is as well known for his short stories as his epics - indeed, they are what first got him noticed. This collection includes a host of unforgettable tales that will stay with you and make you want to re-read this one at least once a year. Memorable highlights are the two stories that introduce us to Salem's Lot and it's evil inhabitants and my personal favourite Grey Matter. Must have!
Fantastic stories
Loved every story totally enthralling
Perfect Introduction
This series of short stories pave the way to the perfect introduction to the world of Stephen King's writing. Going from the surreal fantastic to the 'it could happen to you' thriller, these stories made me want to read one right after the other, dramatically changing scenes and characters with the end of each story. If you've already red 'Salem's Lot you'll travel to a familiar place with a (too) few pages of this book. I've first red this book about 15 years ago and still visit its pages from time to time. For me... a must read!
