Publisher Description

Thomas Love Peacock (1785-1866) was an English poet and writer who worked in the genre of satire. His works are dedicated to satirizing the customs and day-to-day life of his contemporaries. Peacock’s writing style combines the elements of the mock-Gothic with those of the Aristophanic.

'Nightmare Abbey' is a satirical novel by Thomas Love Oeacock that was initially published in 1837. In this work Peacock laughs at such things as misanthropy and trancendental philosophy that were the objects of fashion in those times.
