Publisher Description
This book explains how to use "Mind Render". Mind Render is a visual
programming editor for education, where you can create a program by
combining blocks just like Scratch. With the support of physics engine, 3D
and VR, Mind Render provides a rich and fun programming experience to
everyone. You can create various fun programs such as flying drones and
driving on a race track, and enjoy all of them in VR mode.
[Composition of this book]
The book starts with the basic instructions of how to use Mind Render and
what you need to know. It is followed by the main section of the book "Labs"
to learn and try out programming. There are 5 different Lab themes as below
and each Lab has 5 to 6 "Missions" (must-do). Each Lab is independent, so
you can do them in any order.
Lab 1: Make your own room
Create your own room by adding a TV, bed and so on and enjoy experiencing
it with your VR glasses.
Lab 2: Move a drone
Operate a drone and explore a city. See a city from a drone’s view.
Lab 3: Learn about Japan in 3D
Let’s draw 3D graphs on a map of Japan. Let’s also enjoy different graphs
from various types of data.
Lab 4: Shoot a cannon
Aim at a target and shoot a cannon. Also enjoy adding effects like a video
game.
Lab 5: Run a race track
Create a race track and drive a car. Try out self-driving cars as well.
[The audience for this book]
You don’t need any special preliminary knowledge about computers. Any
beginner is welcomed. The themes are for middle school student levels, but
high school students and adults can also enjoy the content.
[The equipment you need]
The minimal equipment you need is a tablet or a Windows PC/Mac. Also you
need a smartphone, VR glasses and email address to check whether "the
programs actually work" in the VR mode.
Before you start the Labs, please download Mind Render app from the App
Store (iOS), Play Store (Android), Mac App Store (macOS) or Microsoft Store
(Windows) for free.
