Publisher Description
A gripping first-hand account from inside the halls of Congress as Donald Trump and his enablers betrayed the American people and the Constitution-leading to the violent attack on the Capitol on 6th January 2021-by the House Republican leader who dared to stand up to it.
In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the US Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on the Capitol.
Liz Cheney, one of the few Republican officials to take a stand against these efforts, witnessed the attack first-hand, and then helped lead the Congressional Select Committee investigation into how it happened. In Oath and Honor, she tells the story of this perilous moment in US history, those who helped Trump spread the stolen election lie, those whose actions preserved the constitutional framework, and the risks the US faces and the worldwide implications.

An excellent account of the work of the January 2021 riot
I watched this unfold at home in South West England . I thought to myself if the rioters had been supporters of another incumbent rather than Trump then lethal force would have been used.
I find it hard to believe that there is a possibility that he is again going to be POTUS .
There must be something wrong with a judicial system that is likely to run out of time before bringing the main culprits to book . It is hard to believe that a country can judge a presidency on the price of a gallon of petrol or ignore the constant lies of a man like Trump.
I applaud Liz Cheney for her efforts , but I worry that the sentiments expressed in the epilogue will all be in vain.
Our political system in the UK is far from perfect but at least we were able to ensure that our last two PM’s were removed and would be unlikely to stand again.
