Byline: Brig (R) Tughral Yamin Bob Woodward's book Obama's War: The inside Story (London: Simon and Schuster UK, 2010) describes in details the problems faced by President Obama in crafting the policy review on the war in Afghanistan. The war that Obama inherited from Bush has now become his own war, more so since he had made an election campaign promise to shift the focus from Iraq to Afghanistan. Whether his personal involvement will yield results in form of his re-election for a second term is only a matter of conjecture. The reality is that after two years in office his party has suffered the worst defeat since 1948 because it has been unable to address pressing economic issues at home. There is bound to be a sequel to this book because the decisions made now, on an area notorious as the graveyard of the empires, is bound to affect the political and military stature of USA in times to come.
