Publisher Description
“Oh ... Oberlin” is a developing collection of my podcast interviews being transcribed for publication. These oral histories offer Oberlin residents the chance to tell their own stories about small town, college town, living with a focus on the 20th century and how that opens up to future generations here in the 21st.
Marty Verda grew up in Oberlin when the high school was built on land taken from farming. So there is that. She graduated from Oberlin College because she could afford to go anywhere else. So there is that also. And then she returned to Oberlin to work at Oberlin College (and subsequently in her own practice) during the height of the cultural revolution of the 1960s. AND THEN (#rareallcapmoment) after moving away again, she moved back and ran for township office at a time of unrest between New Russia Township and the city of Oberlin.
The serial publication of these interviews will continue as transcriptions continue through the more than 50 (and growing) episodes already on hand.
