Publisher Description
What would happen if you were cycling to the office and just kept on pedalling?
Needing a change, Mike Carter did just that. Following the Thames to the sea he embarked on an epic 5,000 mile ride around the entire British coastline - the equivalent of London to Calcutta.
He encountered drunken priests, drag queens and gnome sanctuaries. He met fellow travellers and people building for a different type of future. He also found a spirit of unbelievable kindness and generosity that convinced him that Britain is anything but broken. This is the inspiring and very funny tale of the five months Mike spent cycling the byways of the nation.

Beautiful tale into a wonderful journey
Amazing book, bringing to life the feelings probably all of us have experienced from time to time, do we do our thing and go to work or should we risk it and just take off and go somewhere or do something spontaneous. A great read.
If you’re a cyclist you’ll be no doubt agreeing with all the elements about the technical side of this trip and perhaps use it as inspiration for a long ride yourself. But equally this book shines the light on the human side of people and how, past the hustle and business of life being kind and welcoming to others is so liberating and beneficial to us all
Great morals, great book
A wonderful read. As a cyclist and an adventurer, I felt every peddle turn and every heartbeat. I couldn’t put the book down and I blame Mike for truly involving me through every hill, village and vista.
Love it
Absolutely brilliant book, so well written and the detail of places make you feel you’re there.
I finished this book a while ago, but I’m about to start it again
