FROM THE AUTHOR OF ONE DAY IN DECEMBER, COMES AN IRRESISTIBLE LOVE STORY
Cleo writes about love stories every day. She just isn't living one of her own.
When the editor of her dating column asks her to marry herself on a remote Irish island - a sensational piece to mark Cleo's thirtieth birthday - Cleo agrees. She's alone but not lonely, right? She can handle a solo adventure.
Cleo arrives at her luxury cabin to find a tall, dark, stubborn American who insists it's actually his. Mack refuses to leave, and Cleo won't budge either. With a storm fast approaching, they reluctantly hunker down together. It's just one night, after all . . .
But what if one night on the island is just the beginning?

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Just when you thought the journalist-on-assignment trope was overdone, along came Josie Silver with this funny, hopeful take on what happens when a work project goes awry. When dating columnist Cleo, desperate for new material and fast approaching her 30th birthday, is packed off to a remote Irish island to ‘self-couple’ for a forthcoming column, she’s apprehensive. When she finds she’s been double-booked into the only cabin on the island with grouchy (and similarly lost) American Mack, she’s appalled. And of course, the next ferry back to the mainland is days away. No spoilers as to what follows but naturally things are not quite as cut and dried as they seem. A must-read for anyone who is themselves about to reach that brilliant, terrifying milestone (whether you’ve “found your flamingo”—Cleo’s words—or not), Silver avoids trying to shove any self-help platitudes down the reader’s neck, while creating a beautiful backdrop and a community of characters you’ll care about as much as you do whether Cleo finally finds her flamingo.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Silver (One Day in December) spins gold from the story of two lost souls whose paths cross on a remote Irish island. London dating columnist Cleo Wilder is sent on assignment to Salvation Island to "self-couple," à la the actor Emma Watson. Her plans are derailed by Boston photographer Mack Sullivan, who's visiting the island as part of a break from his tattered marriage—and who intends to stay in his family's lodge, not knowing that Cleo has rented it. Things get off to a rocky start, with both of them determined to depose the other from the property. Neither gives in and, when a storm hits and ferry service to the island is suspended, they have no choice but to cohabitate. Mack and Cleo's nuanced characterizations allow readers to readily connect with their dilemmas and reasonings, and as they grow closer, the narrative showcases their sometimes winding path to genuine happiness. Laughter is abundant, owing mostly to the island's eccentric residents, but Silver also tackles some heavier topics including divorce, identity, singlehood, and fatherhood. This celebration of unexpected love will leave readers thoroughly satisfied.
