Publisher Description

The Morningstar virus. Those infected suffer delerium, fever, violent behaviour ... and a hundred per cent mortality rate. But that's not the worst of it. The victims return from the dead to walk the earth. And when a massive military operation fails to contain the plague of the living dead, it escalates into a worldwide pandemic.

On one side of the world, thousands of miles from home, a battle-hardened general surveys the remnants of his command: a young medic, a veteran photographer, a rash private, and dozens of refugees -- all of them his responsibility. Meanwhile in the United States, an army colonel discovers the darker side of Morningstar and collaborates with a well-known journalist to leak the information to the public...

Amazing

From the first to the last page this is such an engrossing and brilliant read!!. Its like reading a book about the films 28 days later and dawn of the dead mixed together, with more thrown in to keep you wanting to know whats gonna happen at the end. Defiantly read it if your a zombie novel fan. :)

The best zombie novel ever written...?

[update: no, it isn't - see below]
Original review: Quite possibly, which, as a Chartered Consultant Zombologist (B.A., Msc., PhZ), I don't say lightly. Can't believe I've only just stumbled upon this author, after all these years, but I am glad I have and am really looking forward to the next two books in the trilogy. If you have even a mild interest in the undead and have read this far into this review, then stop wasting time and just buy it ASAP, cos I promise you'll be hooked in far less time than it takes an infected carrier to reanimate!

Update: oops! Got a bit ahead of myself there - correction: the first three to four parts/chapters are great, but then it's as if a 10-year-old child takes over the writing of this book. The plot quickly stalls and sputters to a halt and the characters become 2D idiots - its as if the author just ran out of ideas and decided to try and stretch all the subsequent scenes out to bulk up the word count. Such a shame, as I was really enjoying this to start with...
