Prescribing for Newly Qualified Doctors

Prescribing drugs is a key skill for all who are medically qualified. Yet undergraduate medical curricula have been slow to respond to the increasingly complex compendium of medications frequently prescribed. Identified as a major source of medical error, improving prescribing is now a priority across the National Health Service. 


The author, Dr Constance Chen, is a GP Principal and Prescribing Lead for the Central Manchester Clinical Commissioning Group. With pharmacy colleagues, and building on years of teaching students from the University of Manchester, the author presents a clear and comprehensive guide to prescribing relevant to both acute and primary care.
