Sound advice
Speaking as a Singer, Vocal coach (for 16 years) and a Speech and Language Therapist working in vocal rehabilitation... this book rocks!
It's absolutely full of great advice that you would receive in singing lessons and voice clinics when dealing with vocal health.
The advice contained comes from those who know what it's like to be a high vocal-load professional, and they themselves have received good advice over the many years experience they have had in the business.
The best advice they keep coming back to is 1) support your notes 2) relax your larynx. (It's a lot more complex than this because for Rock singing certain tensions above the vocal folds do have to happen but generally there should be no tension at the level of the vocal folds themselves, for any of it).
Vocal health: This book delivers very similar advice to advice that would be given to you by health professionals specialising in voice once you have been diagnosed... but please visit your GP and get referred to the specialists if you ever experience any of the difficulties written about here.
You CANNOT self-diagnose voice problems. Get yourself a proper referral!
Great book for describing fundamental technique in a way that is conversational and easy to understand.
Thanks - been looking for a book like this for a long time.
