Some thoughts on the way …
Times of turbulence are obviously heydays of requesting
leadership and leaders. Leadership always sounds sexy and
future-oriented. Particularly since 2008, requests for leadership
have become en vogue. It is easy to ask for leadership – without
knowing what a leader of today and tomorrow is all about.
Currently, vague ideas and catchwords dominate the discussion.
Tossing words into the debate is one thing. Reasoning about
adequate leadership and providing even more reasonable recommendations
is much more difficult – simply because they become
rather quickly outdated.
I have dedicated myself to leadership issues for a couple of
years. There are no one-size-fits-all-solutions on the road to
become a ‘good leader in times of change’. Leadership is closely
related to the individual personality of a leader. For that reason, it
is a variable and volatile stage that – at the same time – is open
for new ideas, for different ways and other perspectives.
