Red Eclipse

An unusual object, compelling and unexplained, comes into the possession of reclusive author, Suzanne Jennings by an even stranger set of circumstances. It compels her on an ominous journey to a time and place over a thousand years into the future. What is left of mankind clings to the remnants of a fierce feudal society, living in a harsh climate and hostile environment. The Others-of-Us, the immortal survivors of biological contamination known as scags, scavenge the land looking for anything or anyone to eat either living or dead. They are a constant menace and difficult to kill. It is imperative that they all be destroyed.
Three remaining city-states each ruled by a warlord, are the only safe places left for mankind’s chance of survival. Weary and scarred after years of fighting against renegades and scags, the most powerful of the three warlords, Prince Akken’ar, must find and bring the promised Wordsayer to his towered keep, Ironhold. All hope rests on the Wordsayer’s ability to read and understand the prophecy left by a sainted ancestor that may offer the only way to destroy the creatures. In ten days, the scags gather on the night of the Red Eclipse--an event that takes place every 214 years.
However, no one, especially Akken’ar, expected the Wordsayer to be a beautiful and intriguing woman, from the past.
