This is a book in The Jelly Beans and Spring Things series and it Mara and Bruce’s story. Mara is a single mom to her fifteen year old daughter Angelica and life had been such a struggle and still was but her daughter was her life and she would do anything for her even working two jobs to make ends meet so while she did have time for the rare one night stand she didn’t have time for a relationship especially after everything that had happened in her life so she worked as a graphic designer in the day and a quality reviewer at night which enabled her to pay her bills. Bruce is a firefighter and paramedic and had just moved into a new apartment next to Mara but Bruce had a lot of baggage after his wife Tessa and there baby died two years ago but he was still feeling the loss and guilt even though there was nothing that he could have done to save them but he was still not ready yet to move forward after the loss and memories. When Mara and Bruce meet the attraction is instant and when he sees the bruises on Mara’s neck he was angry that some man could do that to her or any woman and vowed to be there to help her if she needs it. The more time that Mara and Bruce spend together the stronger there feelings for each other grows but Angelica’s biological father had showed up with ulterior motives which puts her in serious danger and when something happens it is Bruce that she calls for help. I absolutely loved this book so much and Bruce always had Mara and Angelica’s back even when she was a bit of a brat and needed help because of a really difficult situation he dealt with it to make sure that they were both safe and protected by eliminating the threat. This story pulled you in and kept your attention throughout while turning the pages because I couldn’t put it down. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed it so much that I can’t wait to read more books in the future.
