Abstract : The present article on the supporters of the reform of the enterprise (industrial democracy), who promoted participation in management and profit-sharing, endeavours to circumscribe their attitude towards the rapid industrialization of Quebec and the reforms that had become pressing in the area of work. A particular attention is given here to the debate surrounding the 1950 Catholic Bishops' Pastoral Letter on the Problems of Workers. The article shows how the pressures emanating from conservative elements led to important changes in the first draft written by the Priestly Commission of Social Studies, an unpublished document entitled the Christian Working Condition.
