BRILLIANT
This was a favourite in the early nineties and it still is now. We may laugh at Merivel, but he's the everyman of his time. It is only in hindsight that the novel's parallels with the Thatcher years becomes apparent.
Superb
A superbly written and moving tale, cannot fault it. Thoroughly enjoyable.
