ROGUE.

Ember Hill left the dragon organization Talon to take her chances with rebel dragon Cobalt and his crew of rogues. But Ember can't forget the sacrifice made for her by the human boy who could have killed her—Garret Xavier Sebastian, a soldier of the dragonslaying Order of St. George, the boy who saved her from a Talon assassin, knowing that by doing so, he'd signed his own death warrant.

Determined to save Garret from execution, Ember must convince Cobalt to help her break into the Order's headquarters. With assassins after them and Ember's own brother helping Talon with the hunt, the rogues find an unexpected ally in Garret and a new perspective on the underground battle between Talon and St. George.

A reckoning is brewing and the secrets hidden by both sides are shocking and deadly. Soon Ember must decide: Should she retreat to fight another day…or start an all-out war?

Lots of Dragon Action!

Continuing closely from Talon, Rogue is the second book in the Talon Saga by Julie Kagawa and follows Ember and Cobalt as they rush to rescue Garret from execution for betraying the Order of St. George during the events of Talon.

Ember has grown up fast and has taken on the role of a rogue dragon with strength, she realises her dragon is drawn to Cobalt but her human side is still drawn to Garret. Through this novel she learns more about what her strengths and weaknesses are on both sides of the coin both in battle and towards both men. The tension through the group is electric, not just between Ember and the guys but between each of the guys aswell.

Throughout the novel we are given snippets of how Cobalt built his network of rogues, why he built it, and what is at stake if Talon or the Order get to it. We meet new members of Talon and we discover how deep their indoctrination goes as Ember’s brother digs deeper into the organisation and turns further against Ember.

This novel has far more depth than Talon had and was a far more gripping read, it was more violent, action-packed and just made up for all the things I felt like the first book was lacking with all of it’s teenie bonding elements (sorry!). This felt far less a Young Adult read than the first book and it was easy to get swept away with the events of the main storyline.

There are plenty of twists within this novel and it ends with some great questions left unanswered ready for the next book in the series.
