Publisher Description

In this 'chilling story that keeps you guessing to the last page', three couples who befriend each other on holiday may be hiding sinister secrets from each other (Daily Express)

Three couples meet around the pool on their Florida holiday and become fast friends. But on their last night, their perfect holiday takes a tragic twist: the teenage daughter of another holidaymaker goes missing, and her body is later found floating in the mangroves.

When the shocked couples return home, they remain in contact, and over the course of three increasingly fraught dinner parties they come to know one another better. But they don't always like what they find: buried beneath these apparently normal exteriors are some dark secrets, hidden kinks, ugly vices...

Then, a second girl goes missing.

Could it be that one of these six has a secret far darker than anybody can imagine?

A brilliantly plotted, utterly gripping thriller about the danger of making friends on holiday, Rush of Blood is Mark Billingham's most ambitious and accomplished work to date.

Rush of Blood

I have read nearly all of Mark Billingham's book's and usually can't wait for the next one to come out. This book however left me a little disappointed. I missed the fast paced style that Mark has become synonymous with. Non of the characters gave me the creeps, it totally lacked the suspense of say, "Sleepyhead" or "scaredy Cat".
I know it was a stand alone book, and not a DI Thorne but I felt this was his weakest yet. I await another spine tingling DI Thorne please.

Disappointing

I'm a fan of Mark Billingham books but this was a disappointment. Every character was without depth or charm, to the point where I didn't care about them at all. No real suspense (you could guess, within reason, fairly early on who the murderer was) and the plot meandered which meant I actually struggled to get to the end of the book - I normally devour his books within 2 days! Not his best.

Superb!

As good as all of Mark Billingham's previous offerings! It had me guessing right until the very end. Mark Billingham is able to create such well rounded characters you feel you know them well!
