APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The first in a series from Marion Todd, See Them Run introduces a game new lead in DI Clare Mackay. On the night of a wedding celebration, events take a fatal turn when a guest is killed in a shocking hit-and-run. Placed on the victim’s chest is a card bearing the number ‘5’. The next night, another victim is struck down and a card reading ‘4’ is found at the scene. It’s on the irrepressible Mackay—who recently left the hustle and bustle of Glasgow for the seemingly sedate seaside life in St Andrews—to pick up a gruesome case that’s shattered the local community. As she hustles to find a decisive lead, the walls begin to close in around her investigation, and her.

A gripping read 👍
Hard to put down, very well written. A great read.
Thoroughly absorbing and credible detective story
It makes a change to pick up a crime novel these days that has a credible plot line and relies on proper police enquiries to unmask the miscreant. This falls directly into that category.
I give it a four star rating rather than a five only because of the main character’s back story that over-intrudes and adds nothing to the substance of the tale. Such a pity that modern authors believe it to be necessary. Still, it is much worse in most other new novels and is only a relatively minor distraction here.
A really enjoyable read and I hope that the author continues to concentrate on crime-solving in her next works and does not overdevelop the private life of her heroine.
First book I’ve read in a while and what a great way to get back into it. Brilliant book from start to finish. If you like suspense, read this!
