Sheldon College - Apple Distinguished School

Sheldon College continues to lead and innovate in developing infrastructure, resources, programs and facilities that support our students in a vibrant learning environment.  A significant component of our College’s Edu-tech ecosystem is our Apple Infrastructure. The College’s iPad program for Early Learning through to Year 3, is complemented by the Years 4 to 12 self-managed device program. A range of dedicated industry-specific Apple computer labs, iPads across different faculties, and interactive technologies within our ArtScapes and LINQ Precinct Facilities, allows our teachers to pioneer their practice.

 

Sheldon College’s innovative curriculum places a strong emphasis on students being exposed to authentic practices and skills that can later serve more complex endeavours. As a result, students can investigate whether life could be sustained on Mars by travelling to a virtual Mars environment. Other students combat energy poverty across the world by designing and manufacturing non-toxic lighting solutions. Students build their social enterprise linked to industries such as health, aged-care and the environment.  Through the use of virtual and augmented reality our students model medical stents and their placement within human and animal anatomical systems. Our students launch their ambition to study Aviation by creating their own drone to deliver medical equipment. With the careful implementation of Apple technologies, inconceivable learning is achieved across the College from our early learning programs right through to our senior classrooms.
