An excellent urban-fantasy read
The world now knows that Vampires and Witches exist. Jane Yellowrock is something else though - a shapeshifter and possibly the last if her kind - as well as something else; the Beast. She has travelled to New Orleans to take on a contract to hunt and kill a rogue vampire that is killing and eating humans and vampires alike.
The book is a great read and very reminiscent of the Dresden Files series of books although Jane is a bounty hunter and does not cast spells. It’s well written and there is a fully realised world of supernatural creatures for her to meet in future books. The characters are three-dimensional, memorable and well-realised. A great start to a new series.
