Publisher Description

In this spectacular father/son collaboration, Stephen King and Owen King tell the highest of high-stakes stories: what might happen if women disappeared from the world of men?

All around the world, something is happening to women when they fall asleep; they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed, the women become feral and spectacularly violent...

In the small town of Dooling, West Virginia, the virus is spreading through a women's prison, affecting all the inmates except one. Soon, word spreads about the mysterious Evie, who seems able to sleep - and wake. Is she a medical anomaly or a demon to be slain?

The abandoned men, left to their increasingly primal devices, are fighting each other, while Dooling's Sheriff, Lila Norcross, is just fighting to stay awake.

And the sleeping women are about to open their eyes to a new world altogether...

I didn’t want it to finish.

Loved this fantasy story. Once I was 100 pages in, I decided it was brilliant. Loved the characters, well the females mostly. Gutted I’m finished now.

Too long with bland characters and drawn out storyline

As a Stephen King fan who has loved his work since I was a child, I am disappointed to say that this was actually one of the worst books I have ever read. It is too long, the story just meanders slowly from each one dimensional character to another, never picking up pace or creating suspense. I tried three times to finish it but each time I just could not be bothered with it, it is unfortunately quite boring and a real disappointment. I am sure others will love it but it doesn’t even wipe the nose of his other great books. This collaboration with his son just didn’t hit the usual Stephen King standard for me. If you have read his other collaborations such as The Talisman, it shows that 2 great writers can produce something good. Unfortunately in this case it did not work out well for this particular pairing in my opinion.

83% into the book literally cant finish it, i came to the realisation i didn’t care how it ended i didn’t care about any of the boring characters and couldn’t slog through it any longer. I love Stephen King but i would really recommend not to buy this book and go for classic king and not this borefest that you really will wish you were cocooned to save you the time
