Few psychological thriller writers have the ability to leave us, well, totally terrified like Andrea Mara. If you are thinking about reading this one while at home by yourself, perhaps wait until you’re on a beach, train, or at least switch the big lights on. Mara’s action here kicks off in earnest when a woman, Anya, is found dead after a masked intruder slips into her (very nice) home (in a very fancy neighbourhood) while she’s enjoying a peaceful bath. We then meet a friend of Anya’s, Julia, who is given the ultimate scare when she watches an online video of a masked man (perhaps the same one?) emerging from her own attic. Who is this mask-fond maniac? And should Julia be looking closer to home for suspects? Mara leaves crumbs expertly and subtly throughout before dropping a spectacularly well-delivered big finish.

Love love love
There is so much going on with lots of little mysteries happening at the same time. This makes it hard to guess what is happening in the book.
Great title
I couldn’t put this book down. My new favourite author. If you haven’t read any of her books I highly recommend
Decent read
I enjoyed it! There are a few things that annoyed me about the characters (you know when an issue can be solved by two characters simply talking to each other), but the plot was gripping. Being a while since I didn’t want to put a book down, and here it is.
