Publisher Description
A guided tour in words, maps and photos to exploring St Agnes, Gugh and the Western Rocks. These were already a distinct group of islands standing apart from the rest of Scilly when humans first arrived 4,000 years ago. As a consequence, the eighty residents of St Agnes and Gugh are a particularly independent, resilient and resourceful band. Further west, the rocks and isles belong almost exclusively to seals and seabirds, although lighthouse keepers lived in the Bishop Rock Lighthouse until 1992 – surely Scilly’s most perilous and lonesome address.
